The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL).
The MOU was signed at a virtual signing ceremony on 1 December 2022 by Ms Gloria Lim, Chief Executive Officer of SIAC, and Professor Liu Xiaohong, President of SHUPL. Under the MOU, SIAC and SHUPL will work together to place law students from SHUPL in internships at SIAC. Both parties will also explore the possibility of developing or conducting university modules, joint training programmes, seminars, and other events in China to promote the development and practice of international arbitration.
Professor Liu Xiaohong, President of SHUPL, said, “I believe that through sincere cooperation with SIAC, we will be able to gain fruitful achievements, to train more professional talents who are proficient in international commercial arbitration laws and practices, to realize the complementarity of high-quality resources, and to contribute to the construction of international commercial dispute resolution and legal system hand in hand.”
Ms Gloria Lim, CEO of SIAC, said, “We are pleased to be entering into this collaboration with SHUPL, which will support the development and nurturing of our next generation of arbitration practitioners, through internship opportunities with SIAC and joint training programmes that will provide useful exposure to the practice of international arbitration.”
